Klopp Wants To Manage Manchester United

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp has taken a break from management despite being linked to a move to Liverpool but according to an associate of the often animated manager, he would jump at an opportunity to manage Manchester United.

Krautzun, who worked with Klopp at Mainz told goal.com that the German would be very interested in managing Manchester United and that it would be hard for the former Dortmund manager to say no to the “red devils”. ‘He once told me, that one day, when it does not fit with Dortmund anymore, Manchester United would be his club,’ he told Goal.com ‘But at this moment the job is taken. Klopp would fit perfectly to an English club that is well lead and well organised.” Klopp is currently on a sabbatical and would return at a date of his choosing.

Van Gaal is currently holding sway at Old Trafford and is in the middle of a transformation project just one year into his three year contract. Van Gaal has however stated that this would be his last managerial job.

Sucking Up: Hernandez Praises Benitez

Featured Image

It is clear that Manchester United don’t want Javier Hernandez anymore. The Mexican’s actions today showed just how much he wants to stay at Real Madrid as he praised newly hired manager, Rafa Benitez, the man with the ability to make his Real Madrid move permanent.

Hernandez struggled to get his Real Madrid season going but towards the end, became a good enough for Real Madrid and scored some important goals. Ancelotti made no moves to make Chicharito’s move to Real Madrid permanent and with the arrival of Benitez, the Manchester United man’s future is still in the balance. Hernandez admitted this to reporters before going on to praise Benitez, calling him a good manager. “Ancelotti was my coach but now Benitez is there. He doesn’t have to speak to me because I was on loan from Man United. He told Reuters “But I am very calm because, thankfully, the last two months at Madrid were very good and showed a lot of things. That gave me a lot of confidence for my future. I think that Rafa knows me. He is a really good coach and I think he will do a great job at Madrid.” Hernandez had earlier stated that he loved playing for Real Madrid, a club he describes as the best in the world

Hernandez would love to carry on at Real Madrid but it seems unlikely that the “little pea” would be returning to Old Trafford whether Madrid choose to buy him or not.

Low Believes Juventus Can Stop MSN

Featured Image

Germany coach Joachim Low believes that Juventus are well equipped to neutralize Barcelona’s trident attack of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Barcelona and Juventus are on the verge of securing notable trebles in the UCL final holding in Berlin later today, as both teams have already secured domestic doubles.

Despite the fact that Barcelona are favorites, Low expects the match to be tight.

“Everyone believes that Barcelona is favourite but it will be very difficult. Juve know how to react to players like Messi, Neymar and Suarez,” Low told Uefa in Berlin.

“Barcelona are in good shape, with no injuries. I think in the end they will prevail narrowly. They are full of world-class players.”

The 2014 World Cup-winning coach went on to add that he is looking forward to an intriguing tactical clash in which both teams will take a very different approach.

“It will be a bit of a struggle of systems,” he said.

“An Italian team with a good defensive organisation against a Spanish team with great offensive quality. Although Juve are a team that don’t only defend – they can attack, too.”

Evra Intends To Shake Hands With Suarez

Featured Image

Juventus defender, Patrice Evra has said he will shake hands with Barcelona’s forward, Luis Suarez when Juve face Barca in the UCL final, later today.

When both players were in England, Suarez in Liverpool and Evra in United, Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing the Frenchman and received a ban.

Upon Suarez’s return, the Uruguayan snubbed Evra in the pre-match handshakes. Despite the animosity, Evra has said he will shake hands with Suarez.

“I will shake his hand – I am a professional,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

“Like I’ve said many times, I’m proud of my colour and it doesn’t matter. I’m playing against Barcelona, I’m not playing just against Luis Suarez.

“Every player in the team, they will feel me, because I will play a really important game.”

Evra also revealed his surprise at the workload expected of players in Italy, insisting he has never felt better.

“It was a shock at the beginning because, to be fair, I did not expect the way Juventus Football Club were working,” the 34-year-old added. “They work really hard.

“I think the training sessions are more difficult than the game. In pre-season I remember the manager [Massimiliano] Allegri always asking me ‘Pat, are you OK’ – I was always saying ‘for the moment I’m still alive’. And it was true, because it was difficult. I’d never worked so hard in my life.

“It’s a great experience because, even for my age now, I feel like I’m more powerful than when I was younger. I qualify myself like a bottle of wine – the more I get older, the more it tastes sweet!”

Reports: Van Gaal Wants Schweinsteiger

Featured Image

Manchester United are still looking to bolster their midfield and Van Gaal is looking not just to add quality but experience to their side as Van Gaal is reportedly keen on signing Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger has suffered with injury challenges this season and his Bayern Munich future has been in doubt and with youngsters like Rode quickly climbing up the ladder at the Allianz Arena, Schweinsteiger could be on his way out. Van Gaal who has worked with Schweinsteiger before, during the Dutchman’s time at Bayern is looking to bring the former Germany international to Manchester and add him to a midfield that has probably seen too much of Rooney this season, something Van Gaal wants to correct. Van Gaal knows that Scheiwsteiger would not be in his long term plans but if he stays fit, he could be very helpful in the short term.

Bastian Schwiensteiger and Bayern Munich have made no comments about the midfielder’s future but according to reports from Munich, Schweinsteiger’s future hangs in the balance.

Manchester United Ready To Make Kane Bid

Featured Image

Manchester United are still looking to bolster their attacking options and the Old Trafford side have made Harry Kane their primary attacking target as the Tottenham breakout star is viewed by Van Gaal as the best attacking option in England.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to use cash, Nani, Chicharito and even Januzaj if need be to bring Tottenham to the negotiation table. Manchester United are reportedly willing to put up 50 million pounds for the Spurs academy graduate. Kane could become the most expensive British player but Tottenham insist he is not for sale. Van Gaal who views Nani and Chicharito as surolus to requirements is also willing to loan out Januzaj out, an option that Tottenham considered in January. Van Persie is also reported to be unsettled at Manchester United as the player revealed that he was in a perculiar situation at Old Trafford. Manchester United would really be desperate to bring in a forward after shedding the 290,000 pounds a week financial weight that was Radamel Falcao.

Even though Tottenham insist thatKane is not for sale at whatever price, we’ve heard the same stories before about Modric and Bale and both players ended up moving so, Manchester United fans would keep their fingers crossed.

Messi: Friendship The Key To MSN Success

Featured Image

Messi has credited the friendship Luis Suarez and Neymar enjoy off the pitch for their success on it.

The Barcelona trio; Messi, Suarez and Neymar scored 120 goals between them in a La Liga calendar and broke the record of 118 goals set by Ronaldo, Higuain and Benzema for Madrid in 2011-12 season.

Messi has now chalked the success MSN are enjoying to the friendship they share off the pitch, a friendship that started when Suarez joined from Liverpool.

“We three get along really well, not only on the field but also off it too,” the Argentina international told the Times of India. “I think that if you get along well off the pitch, it makes things easier on the pitch.

“There is an understanding between us which makes it look so easy, but there is a lot of hard work behind it.

“Last year, I had an inconsistent season. I was out for a long time due to injuries and I missed a lot of matches.

“When I returned to the field I never felt right. 2014 was a year I tried to forget quickly and recovered my best form thanks to the joy, hard work and effort that I have always had. Thankfully, now I feel very good.”

Cleverley Could Join Everton For Free

Featured Image

Tom Cleverley spent the whole of this season on loan at Aston Villa and is unwilling to return to Manchester United who are also unwilling to keep him and he might be moving to Everton who are keen to have him.

Cleverley was widely regarded as the next Paul Scholes but injuries, a serious deep in form and his subsequent inability to hit the performance levels widely expected of him made him to fall by the way side at Old Trafford. Manchester United shipped him out on loan at the start of the season and he stated then that he had played his last game for Manchester United as he could not forgive the way the fans treated him. One year later, all that has not changed as his gross inconsistency at Aston Villa did nothing to endear him to the Manchester United fans and with Aston Villa unwilling to make a commitment, Everton are preparing to swoop in and land the midfielder for free as his Manchester United contract expires in the summer.

Everton are also considering deals for a few other midfielders and a few other premier league clubs including newly promoted Watford are believed to be interested in Cleverley

USA Produce Stunning Comeback To Beat Netherlands 4-3

Featured Image

Guus Hiddink would still be questioning how his side threw away a two goal lead and allowed the United States of America to beat them in an international friendly in Amsterdam yesterday.

The Netherlands started the game on the front foot and in the 27th minute were put ahead by Klaas Jan Huntelaar who rose to meet Memphis Depay’s cross to make it 1-0 bit 5 minutes later, USA were back on level terms as Zardes knocked in a cross from deep by Johnson to make it 1-1. The Netherlands came flying out of the blocks in the second half and Guzan was on hand to keep Van Persie’s header out one minute after the restart. In the 49th minute however, Huntelaar’s header found the back of the net again and this time, Van Der Weil was the supplier and in the 53rd minute, Depay made it 3-1 as he deflected Huntelaar’s shot into the net. Netherlands continued to dominate the match until the 70th minute as Brooks rounded off a superb attacking move to give the Americans hope. Some poor defending by the Dutch following a corner allowed Williams to equalize in the 89th minute. Luke De Jong could have won the game but his shot hit the post in the 90th minute and the Netherlands paid dearly as Wood tapped the ball into the net after Jordan Morris squared the ball into him in the box.

The Netherlands would be hoping for better performances when they resume their Euro qualifiers this month.

One more trophy remains for Barcelona to seal their treble and mirror their 2009 achievement. The only thing standing between the Catalans and this memorable feat is Serie A champions, Juventus.

Now, this is Barcelona’s journey throughout the competition and how they fared on the road to Berlin.

Barcelona topped group F with 15 points and the only team that rained on their parade, was PSG, who they lost 3-2 to in France on matchday two.

Beckenbauer Says The Serie A Is Still Weak, Despite Juve Success

Featured Image

Franz Beckenbauer is maintaining that the Serie A is still a weak league and Juventus’ success is not a reflection of its strength.

The Bianconeri are on the precipice of sealing their first ever treble, having already won the Coppa Italia and Scudetto when they face Barcelona in the UCL final.

However, Beckenbauer who once played and coached Bayern Munich has insisted that the progress of the Turin side is not a reflection of Italian football.

“I wouldn’t go as far as to say this is a renaissance for Serie A. Italian football has been weakening for some time,” the 69-year-old told Bild. “That fact cannot be hidden behind the success of Juve, who are the only top international team in Italy.

“Spain is clearly the best European league, and Sevilla also won the Europa League. I’d say the Bundesliga is in second place, closely followed by the Premier League. Italy and France are about even in fourth.”

Lippi: Barcelona Have Faced Nothing Like Juventus

Featured Image

Former Juventus boss Marcelo Lippi believes his former side will present Barcelona with their toughest tactical proposition when both sides face in the UCL final, which holds in Berlin on Saturday.

Lippi who led Juventus to champions league success in 1996 and Italy to world cup success in 2006, has said that Juventus has certain qualities that Luis Enrique’s men are yet to encounter.

“These are the best two teams in Europe this season, but when a team gets to this point in a continental competition there are no certainties,” explained Lippi. “In my opinion, Luis Enrique and his side have not faced a team so compact, sturdy and so willing to defend as Juventus.

“But the Bianconeri also know how to counter-attack with speed when they regain possession, and this could be a factor in how the game turns out. Barcelona are favourites, of course, but I don’t think it will be as easy for them as many seem to think.

“The Catalans have Martians in their attack in Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and that will make life very complicated for Allegri. But Juve are organised and tough, and we mustn’t forget that Buffon is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. I expect a more balanced game than most seem to think it will be.”

Reports: Chelsea Would Allow Cech Leave

Featured Image

According to the Daily telegraph, Chelsea would be willing to allow legendary goalkeeper, Petr Cech leave to any club of his choice provided the club meets their valuation of him

The Czech shot stopper has lost his place to Thibaut Courtois this season and is reportedly seeking a move, preferably to a big club where he can play consistently and remain in the UEFA champions league. Manchester United are reportedly looking to move for Cech if they lose De Gea to Real Madrid and Arsenal are desperate to land Cech who is a top class goalkeeper, the kind that Arsene Wenger needs. Chelsea are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Cech.

While most clubs would be keen to sign Cech, at 32, Cech cannot be seen as a long term replacement especially with the head condition he suffers owing to his injury a few years ago.

Mourinho Driving Chelsea Bid For Falcao

Featured Image

Falcao was once a prolific goalscorer before he joined Manchester United on loan, Chelsea are attempting to sign the Colombia international, with Mourinho confident he can return the Monaco man to his scoring ways.

Rumour has it that Mourinho is keen and driving the deal to sign Radamel Falcao, after van Gaal decided not to exercise a €55 million option of converting the forward’s loan to a permanent deal.

Falcao is intent on remaining in the premier league and work with Mourinho after being constantly sidelined at United, underappreciated at the Old Trafford and the Colombian is sure Mourinho will deploy him in the fashion that van Gaal didn’t.

The only thing stalling Monaco sanctioning the move, be it on loan or permanent basis, is which player Chelsea is willing to offer for Falcao.

Nigeria’s oldest bank is taking financial literacy to high schools

Featured Image

Financial literacy is one lesson secondary school students won’t get in the classroom, and it is arguably a fundamental skill they will need for their future success. First Bank, Nigeria’s oldest and second largest bank, is keen on changing this narrative by driving financial literacy and career counselling in secondary school students across Nigeria through its FUTURE FIRST Programme.

Speaking at the one day financial literacy event organized for students of Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja, First Bank Ltd Group Head, North Directorate, Abuja Murtari Zubairu said First Bank through Future First is partnering with NGOs, Central Bank and other stakeholders to drive financial literacy in Nigeria. One of the expressions of Future First is Career Counselling, “our key objective is to help build fulfilling careers for students in financial literacy. Future First through Financial Literacy focuses on empowering secondary school students which is to better equip students with the tools and knowledge for long-term financial independence.

The event centred on what money was all about, the definition of investments, entrepreneurship, what an account is and what financial instruments are as well as what financial inclusion is all about.

Zubairu said that FUTURE FIRST is aimed at meeting the mandate given to banks by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to begin to inculcate the culture of savings as a way of life for young Nigerians which is why First Bank is  presently targeting secondary schools and people under 18 years .

According to him ”We want to make sure we create a saving culture and attitudes in their minds at this stage of their lives so that when they grow up, they would have already been exposed to savings and what is all about. We expect them to be our Ambassadors, they could as well pass the information to others”.

”We intend to give incentives to the students, especially at this young age, you see, it is a product we have designed and we will  list out the benefits for the students owning accounts with the bank which will  include, scholarships, special loans scheme. It will be a total package to motivate others to save, as they will on their own volition walk into the bank to open their accounts following the interest they showed at the event”. Zubairu concluded.

He went on to explain that as a mandate given by the Apex bank to promote financial literacy and financial inclusion, First Bank is expected  to be submit  reports to the CBN regularly on the progress made on financial literacy and financial awareness which is key in driving financial inclusion in the country . According to him, the programme started in Lagos while this is the first in Abuja adding that the bank hopes to take the campaign to all state capitals before going to the grass root.
In his comments, the Head, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability of the Bank, Ismail Omamegbe said that the campaign is a financial literacy type which is an aspect of a focus area that First Bank has when it comes to corporate social responsibility.

”This event at Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja is one of the numerous schools that we have actually adopted in driving financial literacy, and we do this in partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria one of the partners of Future First and sometimes with the CBN.

On the success of the exercise so far Mr. Omamegbe stated, ”Yes, you can see that it was very successful, you could see the way the students responded to questions, actually, understood what the exercise is all about, what money is all about, how actually one can save his or her money, the various means and ways it could be done and the various instruments that are involved.”

Currently, the Bank has adopted over 50 schools across the country to deliver the Future First agenda. As with all our programmes, Future First is also implemented through a structured Employee Volunteering Scheme (EVS). This involves our employees offering their time and knowledge in enlightening high school students on Career Counselling and financial literacy.

AC Milan Looking For Balotelli Return

Featured Image

To call Balotelli a flop at Liverpool would be a huge understatement as the Italian has only managed one premier league goal and three in all competitions for the reds since his move from AC Milan.

AC Milan are on the cusp of bringing the former Manchester City man back to the last place where he was able to find the net regularly as it is understood that if Sinisa Mihajilovic takes over, the Italian club would make a move for Balotelli. Balotelli and AC Milan are both looking to bounce back to the top of the food chain as both parties have fallen off the ladder in recent seasons and both parties might just drive each other back to the to. Balotelli would also be a bargain purchase as they would definitely spend far less than the 16 million euros he was sold for owing to how desperate Liverpool are to let him go.

Liverpool are cleaning out the hose as no fewer than four players are expected to follow in the footsteps of Stephen Gerrard and leave the club this season.
