Third Successive Champions League Win Is ‘Something Crazy’ – Zinedine Zidane

Featured Image

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has called the club’s third successive Champions League win “something crazy” but is not thinking about number four yet.

The La Liga side were victorious again in Europe, beating Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev on Saturday evening, thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and a Gareth Bale double.

In the process, Zinedine Zidane became the first coach to win the Champions Leagues in three consecutive seasons, having only taken charge of the team in his first senior management role in January 2016.

“Tonight is certainly a historic moment,” he told BeIn Sports. “To win three times in a row… It’s something crazy to experience that. Even if we believe it, we think about it when we work hard.

“With a team like this, we can go far but to win three of them, it’s something crazy. You have to make the most of it, and think about what the players have done together.”

Real Madrid have continued to dominate in Europe with a fourth Champions League victory in a row now a possibility, although Zidane is focused on celebrating his most recent win.

Zidane said: “We are going to think about what we achieved, enjoy the moment first. This is the most important thing now.

“We had a complicated season but to finish it with this result, this game, this great joy, makes us really happy.

“I’ve had a little bit of time to think about what this means. This is the status of this club. This is a legendary club, a club that has won 13 Champions Leagues so I’m happy to be part of this history.”

Zidane also hailed Bale’s first goal but stopped short of ranking the overhead kick higher than his own stunning volley in the 2002 final against Bayer Leverkusen, adding: “It’s not the same thing. This is just the latest one that we have witnessed. Gareth’s goal was magnificent. Congratulations to him.”

Report: Maurizio Sarri Has Agreement To Replace Antonio Conte At Chelsea

Featured Image

Chelsea have a general agreement with Maurizio Sarri via his representatives to take over if Antonio Conte leaves his role as manager, according to Sky in Italy.

However, Chelsea have no intention of paying Sarri’s £7million (€8m) release clause, which expires on May 31, Sky in Italy are reporting.

Sky Sports reports that this is in part because the Blues will need to pay £17.5m (€20m) in compensation if they decide to sack the Italian Conte, who lifted the FA Cup with the Blues last week.

The update suggests Sarri could be on his way to Chelsea early next week because of the expiration date on his release clause.

The Blues were disappointing in their Premier League title defence this season, finishing fifth in the table.

Napoli announced earlier this week that they have an agreement with ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti to become their next manager.

I Don’t Have My Future On My Mind Right Now – Nabil Fekir

Featured Image

Lyon captain Nabil Fekir has not ruled out a move away from the club this summer, insisting that his mind is currently elsewhere.

Nabil Fekir scored 21 goals for the Ligue 1 outfit this summer, assisting nine during the campaign as well.

Fekir has been linked with a move to Champions League finalists Liverpool, but the 24-year-old is not certain on his future.

“For now I am in Clairefontaine. Games are coming and I really don’t have my situation on my mind,” Fekir told reporters.

“I will let things happen but nothing is done. I have to talk with [Lyon president] Jean-Michel Aulas and we’ll see what happens next.

“We [France] have two team-mates who will be playing tomorrow [in the Champions League final], Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema. May the best team win! If Real could win we would be happy for them.”

Gareth Bale The ‘Greatest’ Welsh Player I’ve Seen – Ryan Giggs

Featured Image

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has showered praise on Gareth Bale following his match-winning performance for Real Madrid in Saturday’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Liverpool in Kiev, Ukraine.

“It’s quite apt that Zidane is the [Real Madrid] manager,” Giggs said ahead of Wales’ training session in Los Angeles. “The goal he scored at Hampden Park [in 2002], one of those goals where you just go ‘wow.’”

“And it was one of those moments from Gareth Bale. It’s up there as one of the best Champions Leagues goals ever … It’s just an amazing impact and an amazing goal but, like I say, it’s what he’s capable of.”

The Wales squad, which is preparing for Tuesday’s friendly against Mexico at the Rose Bowl, assembled in the team hotel to watch the Champions League final and Giggs said the room “erupted” when Bale’s overhead kick in the 64th minute put Real Madrid 2-0 up.

“Amazing scenes,” Giggs said.” It was great that all the team could watch it and celebrate it together.”

Giggs believes Bale’s impact for Real Madrid over recent years means he is Wales’ best ever player.

“He’s the greatest [Welsh player] I’ve seen,” said Giggs. “I didn’t see John Charles play and many others around that time.”

“Great players turn up and make the difference and he’s done it twice now in Champions League finals. To win four, to go to Real Madrid and be so successful, yeah he’s got to be [the greatest].”

Egypt ‘Optimistic’ Mohamed Salah Won’t Miss The World Cup Due To His Shoulder Injury

Featured Image

The Egyptian Football Association remains  “optimistic” that Mohamed Salah will be able to play in the World Cup after he suffered what Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp called a “really serious injury” in Saturday’s Champions League final defeat.

Mohamed Salah sprained ligaments in his left shoulder, according to the Egyptian FA, which said national team doctor Mohammed Abulela had been informed by Liverpool’s medical team. Liverpool did not publicly confirm the extent of the injury on Saturday.

Salah left the pitch in tears when he was forced to come off injured in the 29th minute after landing awkwardly on his left shoulder following a duel with Sergio Ramos. The 25-year-old tried to continue but went down to the turf once again four minutes later in obvious pain and pointing to his left shoulder, before he was replaced by Adam Lallana.

The Egyptian FA wrote on Twitter that the organization was “optimistic” he could return for the World Cup, which starts in less than three weeks.

Egypt expects Mohamed Salah to be sidelined for about two weeks, according to the Egyptian government’s minister of state for youth and sports, Khaled Abd Elaziz, who wrote on Facebook that Salah was still likely to be named in the team’s final squad, which will be announced June 4.

Salah, who boarded Liverpool’s team bus after the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid with a sling on his left arm, will remain with Liverpool before joining up with his national team in Italy, the minister wrote.

Real Madrid Deserved To Win The Champions League – Jordan Henderson

Featured Image

Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson rued his side’s luck after they lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

However, Jordan Henderson paid tribute to the quality of the side his team faced:

“It is disappointing, of course. We did well to get the goal and get back into the game but made mistakes and Real Madrid was really good. They are a fantastic side and will always hurt you, they deserved to win and were better on the night.

“The first 30 or 35 minutes, we dominated with the ball, had a couple of chances but it is frustrating. You have to give credit to them.”

Henderson was disappointed with Mo Salah’s injury, which proved the turning point of the game

“When Mo Salah got injured they started to dominate with the ball. They scored a goal which was offside in the first half but we stayed in the game. We still believed we could go on but there were a couple of goals on another night which would not have gone in.”

He also questioned if Benzema’s goal should have stopped:

“The first goal I am not sure what happened, whether Karim Benzema stopped it with his hand, and then the overhead kick he could do nothing about. The third goal, the ball had loads of movement on it. It is not the mistakes Loris Karius made, we got to the final as a team and lose as a team. It is about everybody.

“We were not good enough on the night, and I am so proud of the players and the fans who came out for us on the night. I hope we can carry on and get into more finals and use it going forward.

“Football moves forward, we have a World Cup coming up so you have to move on and the season starts really quickly. We have to be proud of getting here. It will hurt for a while but we have to keep going.

Real Madrid’s Champions League Hero Gareth Bale Considering His Future At The Club

Featured Image

Gareth Bale once again proved his worth to Real Madrid by delivering the Champions League trophy with a sensational two goals after coming off the bench in the 3-1 win over Liverpool in Saturday’s final but then declared he would have to consider his future at the club.

Gareth Bale was left out of the starting line-up for the final for the second year in a row as coach Zinedine Zidane played Isco instead, fielding the same side that beat Juventus 4-1 in last year’s final in Bale’s home city of Cardiff.

The  Real Madrid record signing grabbed his opportunity in emphatic fashion after replacing Spain midfielder Isco just after the hour mark, conjuring up an inspired overhead kick to put Madrid back in front in the 64th minute, after Sadio Mane had canceled out Karim Benzema’s opportune opening goal.

Bale then sealed Real’s record-extending 13th European Cup with a long-range strike which flew through the hands of Liverpool’s hapless goalkeeper Loris Karius, ensuring he pocketed a remarkable fourth Champions League winners’ medal since moving to the Spanish capital in 2013.

“It has to be the best goal in a Champions League final, there is no bigger stage,” Bale said of his jaw-dropping strike which put Madrid on their way to a third consecutive Champions League triumph.

“I am just happy to get the win. It is a team game but when you are a substitute, it is a game of more than 11 players. I made an impact.”

“I need to be playing week in, week out, and that has not happened this season,” he told BT Sport. “I had an injury five, six weeks in but fit ever since. I have to sit down with my agent in the summer and discuss it.”

Gareth Bale repeated his claim in his postgame news conference and said he would consider leaving the club this summer if he was not fully in Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane’s plans.

“I feel that I need to be playing every week,” he said. “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, something that I feel like I should be doing. If it’s not the case here, then it’s something I have to really consider and sit down and do.

“I’ll do that in the summer. I have plenty of time now to relax, to reflect on things and see where things go.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Admits He Might Be Leaving Real Madrid Soon

Featured Image

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he may have played his last game for Real Madrid after winning a fourth Champions League crown with the Spanish side in a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the final on Saturday, saying he would soon make an announcement on his future.

“Right now we need to enjoy ourselves but in the next few days I’ll give an answer to the fans who have always been by my side. It was beautiful to be at Real Madrid,” the Portugal forward told television network beIN Sports after the game.

“The future of any Madrid player is not important, we have just made history.”

Karim Benzema scored Real’s opener while substitute Gareth Bale struck twice, including a sensational overhead kick, to seal a 13th European Cup win overall and their fourth title in five years after Sadio Mane had equalised for Liverpool.

Ronaldo, who is Real’s all-time top scorer, was asked to clarify his comments but continued to give ambiguous answers.

“I don’t have any doubts, it’s not important, I have to rest now, go and meet up with the Portugal team and in the next few weeks (I’ll make an announcement),” he added before he joins up with his country’s World Cup squad for the tournament in Russia.

Cristiano Ronaldo  is the first player to win five Champions League titles since the competition changed format in 1992 – his total including one with Manchester United – and he has scored more goals in the competition than any other player, with 120.

But when asked if he was disappointed not score in the final, Ronaldo said: “Who’s disappointed? Perhaps they need to change the name of the Champions League to the CR7 Champions League. Who has the most titles and who has the most goals?”

Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool: Brilliant Gareth Bale Wins Real Madrid The Champions League Trophy As Loris Karius Suffers Nightmare Performance

Featured Image

Real Madrid is once again kings of the Champions League. On Saturday night,  Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1  to retain the trophy for the third consecutive year.

A very weird mistake form Liverpool; goalkeeper Loris Karius allowed Karim Benzema to score the opener early in the second half but Liverpool, who lost PFA Player of the Year Mohamed Salah to a shoulder injury in the first half, responded when Sadio Mane stabbed in from close range.

Then Gareth Bale produced a  baffling bicycle kick goal and a stunning shot from way outside the penalty box coupled with as another gaffe from the Liverpool goalkeeper ensured a third straight Champions League crown for Real Madrid.

It is the second time Real have won three European Cups in a row, having gone on to win five in succession from 1956, and only the fourth time it has happened in 63 years.

Real hasn’t lost a Champions League final since 1981, and they become the first team to win three in a row since Bayern Munich in the mid-70s.

More to come shortly.

#UCLFinal: Real Madrid Are UEFA Champions League Winners!

Featured Image

Real Madrid have won their third straight Champions League thanks to a moment of sublime brilliance from Gareth Bale coupled with an error from Liverpool’s goal keeper Loris Karius.

Bale came off the bench and scored a spectacular bicycle kick on the biggest stage as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 to win their third successive Champions League title.

During the pre-match build-up, much was centred on the anticipated battle between star forwards Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo in Kiev, but the duel was cut short before the half hour when Liverpool’s talisman suffered an apparent shoulder injury.

The 25-year-old landed awkwardly on his left shoulder after grappling with Sergio Ramos, while Ronaldo remained on the periphery throughout.

Karius gaffe gifted Karim Benzema the opener (51) before Sadio Mane scored for liverpool(55).

Bale delivered a moment befitting of the showpiece, his 64th-minute bicycle kick sealing a 13th European Cup for the Spanish giants and their fourth in five seasons.

Karius suffered further embarrassment when he let Bale’s late strike (83) from range slip through his gloves but though they competed gamely, crucial momentum was lost with Salah’s untimely exit and Klopp’s wait for a European trophy goes on.

Drake Fires Back at Pusha-T, Kanye West With Diss Track ‘Duppy Freestyle’

Featured Image

Pusha T released his new album “DAYTONA” on Friday and the seven-track Kanye West-produced effort is getting quite the reaction on social media (especially on Twitter) and not all of it are positive.

Keeping it tight at a compact 21 minutes, Pusha T wasted no bars, even taking aim at Drake on the track “Infrared” where he raps “Your hooks did it/The lyrics pennin’ equals to Trump’s winnin’/The bigger question is how the Russians did it/It was written like Nas but it came from Quentin.”

A punch line that apparently mocks Drake’s alleged use of a ghost writer – speaking of ghostwriter Quentin Miller, who has worked with Drake in the past.

West, who produced the album, also lends a verse on one of its tracks, titled ‘What Would Meek Do?’.

Apparently cheesed off following the major digs on Pusha T’s track “Infrared,” Drake swiftly dropped a reactionary diss track on SoundCloud, and Toronto’s finest has not held back at all.

Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle” opens with the line “I’m in shock. The nerve, the audacity” before lyrically assassinating the reputations of King Push and Kanye as well as addressing a three-year-old accusation that Quentin Miller is Drizzy’s ghostwriter.

“If you rebuke me for working with someone else on a couple of V’s, what do you really think of the nigga that’s making your beats?/I’ve done things for him, I thought that he never would need/Father had to stretch his hands out and get it for me.”

He later goes on to let Push know that he has an invoice coming for him with the lines, “It’s gonna be a cruel summer for you/I told Weezy and Baby ‘I’ma done him for you’/Tell ’Ye we gotta invoice coming to you/Considering that we just sold another 20 for you.”

Pusha T, provoked by the bars, then took to Twitter to ask Drake to send the invoice through.

Well it looks like Drake has kept that promise and created an invoice for $100,000 for the Virginia Beach rapper.

Death Toll Rises To 48 In Uganda Bus-Tractor Crash

Featured Image

Forty-eight people died after a bus smashed into a tractor driving with no lights at night and a truck in northern Uganda, a Red Cross spokeswoman said on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Irene Nakasiita told AFP the victims of the late Friday crash included 16 children. The accident happened in Kiryandongo, about 220 kilometres (140 miles) north of the capital Kampala.

“Evacuation teams are working tirelessly to rescue the injured”, said Ugandan police spokeswoman Emilian Kayima, adding that all three drivers had died.

The accident happened on Friday night in Kiryandongo, about 220 kilometres (140 miles) north of the capital Kampala.

The bus collided first with the tractor before hitting a truck transporting beer.

Local media said the death toll exceeded 30.

Uganda has one of the worst records for road safety, due to the poor condition of vehicles and roads as well as dangerous driving.

More than 9,500 people died in a road accident in the country between 2015 and 2017, according to figures from the transport ministry, with the situation worsening each year.

PMB And OBJ: Two Overrated Citizens Of Nigeria

PMB And OBJ: Two Overrated Citizens Of Nigeria – Ademola Adeoye

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Backtracking a little, a few days back, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria jumped on a plane and travelled to Benue State to identify with those who were mourning, but the president was on the inside of the state’s house—being busy with some state matters—like entertaining his support group. Each time I hear from PMB’s mouth or I hear from a revered citizen of Nigeria that Mr. President loves Nigeria and Nigerians and I look at what he does sometimes, I always find it hard as diamond to believe that he truly loves those he was voted into office to serve.

This piece was written by Ademola Adeoye. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

I wonder the kind of people who’s advising Mr. President. They are being paid for doing almost nothing. It does not take rocket science and unusual knowledge (and wisdom) for President Buhari and his handlers to know that it was wrong for him to be in Abuja winning and dinning when Benue people and the entire country were mourning and protesting. If PMB does not know, he needs to be helped to know that he’s sending the wrong signals to Nigerians and the whole world.

Away from the issue that more or less made me cry to the one that makes me laugh hysterically. How do I mean? I am yet to see another two aged citizens—who continually overestimate themselves as His Excellency, Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo and His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and it is not their slipup. Yes, it is not their fault. Whose slip is it? I am glad you ask. It is the fault of some Nigerians who derive joy from abandoning their country in the hands of a few—who do not care a hoot about them. It is the fault of many ever learning Nigerians, but are yet to understand what nation building is truly all about.

Each time PMB speaks, he speaks as if he is the only one who is stain-less in Nigeria and when OBJ speaks, he speaks as if he is the only wise one in Nigeria. I remember during one of his Presidential chats while in office and a man phoned in to advice him. While responding to the brilliant man—who phoned in—on that day, he said and I quote: “It is because I know more than you, this is why I am here…” Both in power and out of power, OBJ is not the type who listens to either advice or correction. And what he does not take from people, he wants everyone to receive from him.

A few days ago, after the only man many Nigerians are worshipping spoke on the man who died and the whole nation was rolling on the floor—praising and worshipping God, I swiftly went back to my archives to check whether Mr. President was right or wrong. And after a few hours, I was able to unearth that PMB was extremely wrong! While I understand that he is entitled to his own opinion as a citizen, but the truth is, it is wrong to attempt to rewrite history and I make bold to say that what is wrong is completely wrong.

PMB spoke about the man—painting a picture of a hero and a good man. Abacha was so good (as President Buhari did say) as a President that someone as Senator Bola Tinubu had to run for his life. While Mr. President was speaking profoundly about Abacha, I am sure someone as Tinubu (amongst other citizens who escaped through NADECO route) would open his mouth as river Jordan during raining season.

This is where I am coming: I am of the opinion that PMB and OBJ are fond of overestimating themselves. Take for instance, those who are telling PMB that he can win the coming Presidential election in the year 2019—without needing those who helped him some years back are lying and overestimating him just as they lied to and overestimated GEJ. If PMB was that popular, he wouldn’t have lost presidential elections thrice!

Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo was well positioned to completely change Nigeria, but he chose not to do so. I am sure whenever he is alone, he regrets it. Also, OBJ is not someone that one can depend on his sense of judgment. Thrice he gave us Presidents and thrice he failed. As an effect of this, only fools would trust his sense of judgment again.

I hope those who are close to Dr. Obasanjo would tell him that he should stop speaking as if he controls all of us in Nigeria. For the first time in the history of our promising country, we have decided to revolt and rebel against the ruling-class, wrestling power from those who have led us into the present bush we have found ourselves as a people.

Also, PMB wrongly believes that he is the only citizen (of Nigeria) alive—who is not corrupt and when he speaks, he believes he is infallible and sadly, many Nigerians also believe so. And what he does is always right. For the umpteenth time, I guess this is one of the reasons why the Vice President of Nigeria was in Benue to identify with those mourning and the President was on the inside of Aso Rock, entertaining his Support Group—Buhari Support Group (BSG). He has succeeded in showing the whole world that he truly cares for the common man.

37,000 Job-Seeking Nigerians Anxious After JAMB Exams As Police Recruits 6,000

Featured Image

No less than 37,000 job-seeking Nigerians who applied to be enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and sat for a computer-based aptitude (CBA) examination organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the exercise.

This is to know if they would be among the 6,000 to join the Force.

Speaking while monitoring the examination in Abuja, JAMB Registrar, Dr. Ishaq Oloyede, congratulated the Nigeria Police for approaching the Board in search of excellence.

His words: “We conduct examinations for different agencies, both in the public and private sectors, because we have the facilities that we use may be once or twice in a year. It is a public facility and at minimum cost, we allow people to use the system.

“We have many people who believe in us and they patronise us, particularly those who want to do things transparently.

“If you want to do something that is not that transparent, JAMB is not the right place to go. But if you want to set the rules and you want the rules to be enforced and transparently so, JAMB will give you the services at a cost you cannot get elsewhere, because we are using already established facility and it is a public facility. All we ensure is that there must be a set standard and the standard must be enforced.

“I congratulate the Nigeria Police. So far so good, they comply with all the agreements about setting standard and ensuring that there would be no waiver at any point in time.

“We have done about 16 agencies this year and we are starting another one in the next few week. We will be starting the Road Safety Corps very soon and we have assisted MTN, EFCC, Christian Pilgrims Commission, West Africa College of Surgeons and National Postgraduate College and all those who want excellent and transparent test. We will ensure that when it comes to CBT examination, the place to go is JAMB.”

The JAMB registrar also noted that the number of vacancies and level of performance would determine the cut-off mark for the Police recruitment.

Nigerian Family Disowns Daughter In Newspaper Advertorial For Seeking To Marry Another Woman

Featured Image

Apparently peeved by the lesbian activities of their daughter, a Nigerian family from Ogun state has disowned Shalom Shoremi, for seeking to get married to a woman.

The Shoremi family, in a newspaper advertorial, announced that it had severed all ties with Shalom, after she had reportedly approached a federal marriage registry for approval to consummate her marriage to her partner.

According to the advert, the young lady was rejected by the marriage registry with reasons that her request is against the same-sex marriage probation act of 2014.

The act declares that same-sex marriage is an illegal act in Nigeria. The law also states that 14 years imprisonment would be given to those accused of same-sex relationships.

The family said the application was rejected in line with the same-sex marriage probation act of 2014 which declares the act illegal in Nigeria.

But following her decision to approach the court, her family members took to a national newspaper to announce their separation from her.

“The attention of Shoremi Family of Ogun State has been drawn to an application for a special marriage license sought by Shalom T. Shoremi,” the advertorial read.

“She had requested for a special marriage license at the Federal Marriage Registry on 22nd of March, 2018 to allow her consummate a same sex marriage, which was rejected as it in variance with the marriage  Act of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.

“The family is disassociating itself from the move and has served ties with her.

“We also disown her on the grounds that what she planned to do is against the law in Nigeria.

“She will also not be entitled to anything from the family inheritance.”
